You should just have the arrow head as the shape and leave the line part to AutoCAD, and then you could go around curves in a more seemly. When it goes round a curve, the line within the shape does not curve, and so the linetype shows as your image.

We recommend to use the 'Linetype generation' property for polylines ( PLINEGEN=1). If you use a shape which includes the line part of the arrow, then that shape is the linetype. The small dots between symbols are neccessary as the linetype definition must start with a full line segment. The symbol size is controlled by the linetype scale property. The spacing between symbols is controlled by the negative values in the definition.
